Spatially adaptive 3D inverse for optical sectioning
In this paper, we propose a novel nonparametric approach to reconstruction of three-dimensional (3D) objects from 2D blurred and noisy observations which is a problem of computational optical sectioning. This approach is based on an approximate image formation model which takes into account depth varying nature of blur described by a matrix of shift-invariant 2D point-spread functions (PSF ) of...
متن کاملEvaluation of optical arrangements for ballistic imaging in sprays.
This work investigates the imaging performance, in terms of contrast and resolution, of two different time-gated ballistic imaging setups commonly used in spray research. It is shown that the two setups generate similar spatial resolution in the presence of scattering media. The simpler (2f) setup, however, is less sensitive to component misalignments and time-gate induced aberrations than the ...
متن کاملAlveolar expansion imaged by optical sectioning microscopy.
During lung expansion, the pattern of alveolar perimeter distension is likely to be an important determinant of lung functions as, for example, surfactant secretion. However, the segmental characteristics of alveolar perimeter distension remain unknown. Here, we applied real-time confocal microscopy in the isolated, perfused rat lung to determine the micromechanics of alveolar perimeter distens...
متن کاملFull-color structured illumination optical sectioning microscopy
In merits of super-resolved resolution and fast speed of three-dimensional (3D) optical sectioning capability, structured illumination microscopy (SIM) has found variety of applications in biomedical imaging. So far, most SIM systems use monochrome CCD or CMOS cameras to acquire images and discard the natural color information of the specimens. Although multicolor integration scheme are employe...
متن کاملSolid state coherent transient measurements using hard optical pulses
An isolated and spectrally narrow absorptive feature is prepared via a novel spectral hole burning process in an inhomogeneously broadened optical transition in Eu(3+):Y(2)SiO5. With the narrow feature it is shown that it is feasible to apply complex optical pulse sequences analogous to rf pulse sequences used extensively in NMR.
